Great news girls. Roots are in!

We’ve had ombre, sombre, balayage and flamboyage, but the latest hair trend on our radar is the root colour trend. We’ve seen a shift in the follicle forecast, from the dramatic contrast of ombre to the more subtle blends of balayage, you’ll notice the focus is definitely moving towards a more natural, sun-kissed look.

And now, if you’re looking for the perfect low maintenance, Cali-girl vibe, the outstretched root is the latest take on the trend. As seen on the likes of Jessica Alba and Giuliana Rancic, we’re predicting the new darker root technique is going to go mane-stream!

With its darker root weaving into a blend of rich honey caramel tones, the look adds a gorgeous multi-dimensional tone to the hair – consider it a new ultra sophisticated version of the ombre do.

The key to this look is achieving that graduated effect. If you’re a brunette, make sure you keep your natural base at the root, or for all you natural blondes, you may want to darken your root. Then ask your colourist to add some lighter face-framing pieces at the front, whilst adding softer tones throughout the hair to create the highlighted effect.

A great tip – make sure you choose shades to suit your skin tone. If you have very fair skin, adding some golden tones will add some vibrancy to your face. If you have an olive complexion, then ash tones will best compliment your skin.

And of course, we’re right on the trend! We’re launching 5 brand new root colour shades as part of our collection with Jen Atkin. Now you can get extensions which blend perfectly with your out-stretched root.

Inspired by the ultimate LA girl, our new shades not only deliver beautiful multi-tonal colour but also add outstanding shine!
